23rd February 2008 Other: Matheran - India Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: 30c Sea Temperature: Weather: Humid - visibility crap Max Speed: Distance Covered: SAT ----- Drove 1.5 hours east from Mumbai to the Matheran Hill Station. "The cleanest Hill Station in India - Eco Sensitive - plastic free" - hmmm - marketing speak me thinks !! Got dropped off at the car park then walked up the railway track to the hotel. Dropped off the gear had lunch then did a 20km trail. Matheran is a huge flat(ish) topped mountain covered in a forest. It has a permitter track that cuts through a forest with some great views at various points. Pity the vis was so crap otherwise there would have been some stunning views. Watched the sunset then back for a curry and a few beers. Top day. SUN ----- Walked back down the railway track the car and then got driven by "Lewis Singh" back to Mumbai - the guy was a lunatic and I'd chosen the front seat for the view - knob! Top weekend. |
